Salary Scales for Local Authority Grades
The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government no longer make salary scales for Local Authority freely grades available on their website. Circulars published by the Department are available on a Sharepoint website which requires a username and password which the Department sent to each Local Authority as part of circular CMU 1/2004. Therefore if you require up-to-date salary scales you should contact your Local Authority for same.Salary Scales for Civil Servants
The Department of Finance issues circulars covering many subject areas for which the Department has responsibility, including various personnel and remuneration concerns, such as salaries and allowances, leave, career breaks, confined competitions, etc..

NO SALT-BIG FREEZE
08.01.2010Thousands of SIPTU members in local authorities across the country worked night and day over the past week to clear ice and snow from the country's roads and thoroughfares. A shortage of salt for gritting roads has left tens of thousands of secondary roads and estates in treacherous conditions following persistent falls of snow, rain and sleet. The east coast, and Dublin in particular, came to a virtual standstill earlier this week when buses were forced off the roads and cars were unable to cope with heavy ice.
