SIPTU offers to help non-Union employees
Date Released: 08 Dec 2003SIPTU is offering to help employees in the Horsewear Plant in Kingscourt, with their redundancy entitlements and minimum notice, when the plant closes, even though the workers are not members of the Union, said SIPTU's Cavan Branch Secretary, Gerry McCormack. "It is a cruel blow to the 36 employees who are set to lose their jobs when the plant shuts down in the run up to Christmas," said Mr. McCormack. "It is regrettable that the management could not have timed the closure of the plant in such a way as to minimise the obvious distress which the employees and their families are now facing. "As a gesture of goodwill SIPTU is willing to commit its resources to ensure that any employee who comes to us, will receive their full entitlement from the management at Horseware Ltd.," he concluded. Editors Note: Any employee who wishes to contact SIPTU for help or advice should phone 049 - 4331419.
