SIPTU accepts NIB statement on Irish Ferries dispute

Date Released: 16 Dec 2004

The NIB proposals for the resolution of the dispute in Irish Ferries have been accepted by SIPTU, on the basis that they will be fully complied with by both parties, according to SIPTU Branch Secretary, Paul Smyth.

"We have accordingly instructed our members to return to work with immediate effect," he said.

"We believe Irish Ferries still has a future and we intend to work closely with the Labour Relations Commission and the Minister of State for the Marine , Pat the Cope Gallagher - who has played a constructive role todate - to find a way to resolve this dispute," he concluded.
