Settlement agreed in Mr. Binman Dispute

Date Released: 30 Oct 2009

The Labour Relations Commission (LRC)  today announced that the parties to the long running “Mr Binman” dispute have, following the intervention of the Commission, accepted settlement proposals negotiated in the course of recent talks.

The settlement involves improvements in wages and conditions of employment at the waste disposal company which operates across the south east and south of Ireland.

SIPTU members accepted the settlement proposals which emerged after prolonged discussions at the LRC earlier this week.

“We are delighted that this prolonged dispute is finally over and that the resilience and courage of our members and their families have been vindicated.

We would like to thank all of those who supported the workers over these past months and the LRC officials who helped to find a resolution to this dispute,” said SIPTU Organiser, Davy Lane.
