Frontline Alliance agrees to support ICTU Day of Protest on November 6th

Date Released: 02 Nov 2009

The 24/7 Frontline Alliance is to give full support to the Irish Congress of Trade Unions day of protest on November 6th in Dublin and at the seven regional centres of Cork, Waterford, Limerick, Sligo, Galway, Tullamore  and Dundalk. After the meeting with the ICTU, the Chairman of the Alliance, Des Kavanagh said, "We fully support the protests organised by Congress on Friday and all our affiliates will be taking part, including those organisations such as my own, the Psychiatric Nurses Association, which are not members of Congress."

It is important that all working people who pay their taxes through the PAYE system support the Congress campaign. The PAYE sector is already shouldering more than its fair share while the bankers, developers and others who wrecked our economy are seeking to divert attention from their own need to contribute by fomenting a divide between public and private sector workers. We are all paying our fair share, now it is time for those who have contributed nothing extra to do so."
