Frontline Alliance welcomes progress but remains vigilant as talks enter next stage

Date Released: 01 Dec 2009

Frontline Services Alliance has welcomed the very significant progress made in talks between the Public Services Committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and the Government today. “It represents an important step forward in the search for a fair and equitable way of addressing the problems created by the current economic crisis for the delivery of public services”, the General Secretary of the Irish Nurses Organisation, Liam Doran, who is also secretary of the Alliance said this evening.

“We will be resuming negotiations in the morning and will remain vigilant to ensure that the concerns of frontline workers delivering those services are addressed. There is still much work to be done.

“We will be meeting with our colleagues in the other frontline unions and staff associations, including those outside Congress, later tomorrow afternoon to review progress.”
