Mass meeting of SR Technics workers to be held tomorrow morning
Date Released: 01 Apr 2009Unions at SR Technics are to hold a mass meeting of members at 9.00am tomorrow at the plant. They will be balloting members on the Labour Court recommendation issued yesterday with a recommendation for acceptance. Based on the outcome of the ballot the unions will discuss their options.
SIPTU Branch Organiser Pat Ward said this evening that there still remain many outstanding issues still in process with the company. “Quite apart from the whole question of pensions and redundancy terms there are a whole range of other unresolved matters”, he said. “These include employment welfare facilities that the company promised to address and never put in place.
“For instance, we have people facing the loss of their jobs who have worked at this plant for over 30 years and never had to apply for another job. The Labour Court recommended that these supports be supplied and the company has yet to do so.
“Tomorrow we will be putting all of the issues to the members and deciding where we go from here.”
