Agency workers generally have little or no job security, have little or no access to sick pay or pension entitlements or to other non-pay benefits.  Their rates of pay are generally lower than those of the regular workforce and collective representation or negotiations can be difficult to achieve.

The exploitation of agency workers is not only a problem for the workers concerned: it also poses a threat to the rest of the workforce whose pay and conditions of employment can and will be undermined unless that exploitation is brought to an end.

This is why SIPTU is determined to campaign for as long as it takes to secure the right to equal treatment for all employees - full-time or part-time, permanent or temporary, direct or agency.
