SIPTU Sector Organiser, Eddie Mullins, said: “The rally will follow a press and political briefing in Buswell’s Hotel, Molesworth Street, on Tuesday, 16th April at 11.00 a.m. At that briefing a major escalation in the dispute will be announced.

“The briefing will be addressed by a number of CE supervisors, who will talk about the vital community services provided by their community employment schemes and their experience of being denied access to any occupational pension scheme, despite the 2008 ruling.”

He added: “A one-day strike by community employment (CE) supervisors and assistant supervisors took place on 18th February. More than 1,250 CE Supervisors have no access to any occupational pension scheme, despite a 2008 Labour Court recommendation in their favour.”

Fórsa Services and Enterprises Head of Division, Angela Kirk, said: “We have contacted the Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe, requesting a meeting to discuss the implementation of the Labour Court recommendation.

“To date neither the minister, nor his officials, have responded to this request despite the provisions established as part of the Lansdowne Road Agreement to establish a high level forum to deal with the issue of pensions for CE Supervisors and other matters relating to the community and voluntary sector,” she said.
