Public debate on decentralisation

Date Released: 29 May 2006

SIPTU General President, Jack O’Connor, has called on public representatives and other interested parties to attend a public meeting in Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin, on May 30, to discuss the issue of decentralisation and hear members concerns regarding the implementation of this ill-conceived Government plan.

"There is an urgent need for full public debate on this issue of vital importance - one which ultimately threatens jobs, families and communities," he said.

  Speakers will include:

Arthur Morgan - Sinn Fein
Kieran Cuff - Green Party
Barry Andrews - Fianna Fill
Fionna O'Malley PD - if Dail sitting permits
Eamon Gilmore - Labour
Fergal O'Dowd - Fine Gael
