Security Industry Joint Labour Committee
In 1999 SIPTU were instrumental, along with the private security employers’ associations, in setting up a Security Industry Joint Labour Committee (JLC) made up of an equal number of worker and employer representatives. The principal function of the JLC is to submit proposals to the Labour Court for the making of Employment Regulation Orders (ERO) providing for legally enforceable minimum rates of pay and conditions of employment. The first Security Industry ERO was made in 2000. Since then another four ERO’s have been made providing further improvements in pay and conditions. The latest ERO was approved by the Labour Court in September 2006.
Nothing in the Employment Regulation Order shall be taken to exclude, limit or be in any way inconsistent with the rights of any employee under any statutory enactment.
Rates of Pay and Working Conditions
The following are the provisions of the latest Security Industry ERO which contains the improvements agreed up to 2009:

| After 4 years' service with the company or 3 years' service with the company plus 1 years' verifiable service in the industry | €10.15 |

| After 3 years' verifiable service in the industry | €10.75 |
Overtime
Hours in excess of an average 39 in the roster cycle will be paid for at time and a quarter for the first 6 hours and time and a half thereafter.
From January 1, 2008, the hours in excess of an average 39 will be paid for at time and a quarter for the first 3 hours and time and a half thereafter and from January 1, 2009, all hours in excess of an average 39 hours will be paid for at a rate of time and a half.
Sunday Overtime
Hours in excess of an average 39 hours in the roster cycle will be paid for at double the minimum hourly rate.
Sunday Premium
Employees who work on a Sunday will be paid a Sunday Premium as follows:

Note: Where Sunday is worked as overtime, the Sunday Premium is not applicable.
Unsocial Hours
An unsocial hours premium will be paid for hours worked between 21:00 hours and 07:00 hours, provided the worker works at least 3 hurs in that period. This will apply as follows:

| From January 1, 2009 | €16.80 per shift |
