SIPTU’s Membership Information and Support Centre (MISC) is staffed by Information Assistants and Organisers/Advocates who specialise in providing information, advice and representation for SIPTU members on individual rights issues.

As well as providing information and advice, MISC Organiser/Advocates represent SIPTU members on individual rights claims at hearings involving the Rights Commissioner, Employment Appeals Tribunal (EAT), the Labour Court, and the Equality Tribunal. SIPTU also represents members in other bodies and Tribunals including in Northern Ireland, dealing with individual members’ issues.

The majority of Information Assistants, who staff the MISC and provide information, are located on the eighth floor of Liberty Hall. A number of Information Assistants are located outside of Dublin but are integrated into the work of the MISC Centre. The Centre is operational between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm (including lunch hour) Monday to Friday. There is also an out of hours messaging facility.

MISC Organiser/Advocates who provide advice and representation are based out of various locations around the country including Castlebar (West), Cork, Dublin-Liberty Hall (Dublin, Meath, Kildare), Limerick (Mid/South West), Mullingar (Midlands), Northwest/Border  and Waterford (South East).Organisers in Northern Ireland deal with cases which arise there , with support from the Legal Rights Unit and the MISC

Where queries or issues are raised with the MISC, we work with Shop Stewards and Industrial Organisers in the five SIPTU Divisions to coordinate the best way of handling the query or grievance in the employment ,or at third party, according to the ground rules agreed within SIPTU between the Divisions and the MISC.
