The Community and Voluntary (C&V) sector delivers a range of vital services and programmes such as childcare, care of the elderly, disability services, healthcare, social inclusion, homelessness, skills training, family supports, drug rehabilitation, homework clubs and sporting activities to name a just a few.

At a time when these services are needed more than ever funding to projects has been cut dramatically. For communities, badly needed services and programmes have been reduced or stretched beyond capacity. In other instances, whole programmes have been closed down.

The only way we can effectively defend our community services is if we stand together; communities & workers.

Collective bargaining, together with local and national campaigns to resist funding cuts offers the best defence of vital community services.
