NBRU/SIPTU Both parties in Irish Rail Training Dispute have, after 18 hours of discussions at WRC, agreed to refer the disputed procedural issue to the Labour Court.

Dermot O Leary/Greg Ennis said: "Despite the best efforts of both Trade Unions and our representatives to persuade the Company that the longstanding agenda of a reduction in the Working Week should have parity of esteem with that of the Training/Mentoring issue, as a way of progressing the issues in dispute, the WRC has this evening agreed to refer the alleged Company breach of procedure, (it's intention to force changes to Train Drivers Terms and conditions) to the Labour Court for adjudication.

Notwithstanding this referral both Unions will conclude their ongoing ballots for Strike Action by February 28th. In the meantime Irish Rail have agreed to put a stay on Mentoring
