Press Release

SIPTU members to take industrial action at LISK Ireland Ltd on 4th April

Date Released: 31 March 2022

SIPTU members employed in LISK Ireland Ltd will commence industrial action at its manufacturing plant in Gort, county Galway at 8.00 a.m. on Monday, 4th April, in a dispute resulting from the failure of the company to engage with union representatives on a number of issues of concern to workers.

SIPTU Organiser, Stephen Lavelle, said: “Our members were left with no option other than to begin industrial action due to a management refusal to respect a Labour Court recommendation that the company engage in negotiations with their union. The Labour Court further recommended that these negotiations should aim to conclude a collective agreement for workers at the electronic component manufacturing plant.

“Management has ignored a several invitations from SIPTU representatives to discuss and resolve a number of concerns that our members have expressed in relation to improving their terms and conditions of employment.”

He added: “SIPTU representatives remain willing and available to meet with management in order to resolve this dispute. However, due to its continued intransigence, our members will be placing pickets on the site and commencing a one day work stoppage on Monday (4th April).”
