SIPTU represents over 180,000 workers in the public and private sector across almost every category of employment and sector on the island of Ireland. 

We provide unparalleled expertise and support services, standing with our members in their dealings with employers, government bodies, and industrial relations institutions.

An Organising Union

We are a proud, active, and organising Union. Our core focus is on:

• Building power in the workplace

• Growing our Union across all sectors

• Recruiting and engaging new members

We believe in the power of ‘One Big Union’ bringing workers together regardless of trade, grade, or background and that workers are at their strongest when we stand together.

Member-Led, Workplace Democracy

A core principle of our organising model is putting power directly into the hands of our members.

To drive this democracy:

• Elected Representation: SIPTU holds regular conferences across all levels of the organisation where committees and member representatives, and the Union leadership are democratically elected.

• Active Participation: All SIPTU members are encouraged to play an active role, both in shaping Union policy and driving its implementation.
