Did you know that we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the opening of the new Liberty Hall this year?
Built by the Irish Transport and General Workers Union and funded entirely by members contributions, the modern Liberty Hall opened on May Day 1965.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Union’s headquarters, we launched a new Instagram account libertyhall60 on New Years Day.
On there we share stories and images of the ‘Workers Skyscraper’.

The Union has a long tradition of supporting the arts and culture and so we commissioned a new print of Liberty Hall by acclaimed graphic artist Gavin Beattie.
Beattie took inspiration from the cover of the ITGWU’s commemorative Liberty magazine in 1965 which they published to celebrate the opening of Ireland’s first skyscraper. Copies of the newly commissioned print are available to purchase from the Communications Department.
Later on this year we will issue a 60th anniversary commemorative magazine with lots of tales, takes and pictures.
