SIPTU representatives are today (Wednesday, 7th April) hosting an online political rally at 4.00 p.m. on Facebook about the Union’s concerns in relation to worker rights, safety and pay for delivery and platform workers. At the event, employment spokespersons from the Government and opposition parties will discuss delivery worker rights, as part of a Global Day of Action. Speakers include Sinn Féin TD, Louise O'Reilly, Senator Marie Sherlock, Labour Party, Senator Mary Seery-Kearney, Fine Gael and Councillor Janet Horner, Green Party. The event will be chaired by SIPTU Services Divisional Organiser and representative of the riders, Teresa Hannick. As part of day of action a small group of delivery riders will take part in a socially distanced photo call at Liberty Hall at 12.15 p.m. Any photographers attending should adhere to current Covid-19 safety measures.
