SIPTU members employed providing vital services including care for the disabled, elderly and youth supports in Section 39 organisations recently voted overwhelmingly in favour of pay proposals agreed at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).

SIPTU Sector Organiser, Damian Ginley, said: “Our members have overwhelmingly accepted the pay proposals which secure them a 9.25% pay increase. This hard-won deal delivers immediate and future raises, finally recognising our members’ vital role in health and community services. This marks a key milestone in the campaign but it is not over.

“This victory was won through the solidarity of our members and proves that when workers stand together, we win. It is with that same solidarity in mind that we strongly reject the exclusion of a minority of our members from these proposals. We are determined to not leave these members behind without a path to fair pay, and plan on escalating our campaign to win them pay justice.”
