SIPTU members employed in Marks & Spencer stores are deferring a one day stoppage work scheduled to take place on Thursday, 12th December. Following engagement between union representatives and management onWednesday (11th December) at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) an emergency Labour Court hearing concerning the dispute has been scheduled for Friday (13th December). SIPTU Organiser, Neil McGowan, said: "Union representatives have been consistently willing to enter meaningful negotiations to find a solution to this dispute which involves the worker's Defined Benefit pension scheme as well as a management attempt to reduce premium payments and abolish the Christmas bonus. While it is regrettable that agreement could not be reached concerning these issues it is positive that both sides have agreed to an emergency Labour Court hearing." Approximately 140 SIPTU members are employed in seven Marks & Spencer Stores across the Dublin area.
