SIPTU members in Uisce Éireann have stepped up efforts to reinforce their internal representation infrastructure as they embark on renegotiating the R2000 Agreement, which will form the basis of the forthcoming R2025 Agreement.

In an internal update, the state water utility revealed that new terms will be communicated to staff and management in October, marking a significant phase in the transition of the organisation. Alongside the agreement redraft, SIPTU has identified a substantial number of new Shop Stewards across all 26 counties. A structured training programme for these activists is scheduled before year’s end, in collaboration with SIPTU College.

This expansion of Shop Stewards is aligned with Uisce Éireann’s broader transformation agenda, which includes enhanced staff training, stronger governance, and improved internal coordination. SIPTU Shop Stewards play a crucial role in organising the growing membership within Uisce Éireann as staff numbers rise.
