Responding to a letter issued by Minister Jack Chambers TD this afternoon, PSC Chair Kevin Callinan and PSC Secretary, Adrian Kane and officers Phil Ní Sheaghdha and John Boyle have said that the Minister’s letter does not represent any change in his previously stated position.

The response from the PSC officers stated that Government must acknowledge that the specific pay issues raised by unions will be addressed in any talks at the outset.

The PSC letter also underlined the importance of restoring confidence in the public service industrial relations process, saying it has been “severely damaged” by unimplemented commitments in the last agreement.

Unions continue to prepare for a national strike that will take place on Wednesday 14th October.
