SIPTU members in St Patrick’s Mental Health Services, James’s Street, Dublin 8, have commenced a ballot for industrial action in a dispute resulting from a management decision to cease employer contributions to the staff defined benefit pension scheme. SIPTU Organiser, Aideen Carberry, said: “`This ballot for industrial action results from a decision by senior management and the Board of Governors of St Patrick’s Mental Health Services to cease employer contributions to the staff defined benefit pension scheme. “A sizeable number of SIPTU members attended a lunchtime protest held today (Wedneday,19th April) outside St Patrick’s Mental Health Services. Our members are clear in their demand that management must engage with their union to resolve this dispute.” The ballot for industrial action, up to and including strike action, will conclude on Wednesday, 26th April.
