SIPTU members working in Blanchardstown and Inner City Home Care have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action over pay inequality.

SIPTU Organiser, Michelle Waller, said: “SIPTU members employed in Blanchardstown and Inner City Home Care have delivered a decisive vote for strike action. This ballot reflects the deep frustration felt by home care workers who provide essential, frontline support to some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

“This vote is part of a long-running campaign by SIPTU members to bring their pay in line with that of other care staff working in other Section 39 organisations funded by the HSE.

“Blanchardstown and Inner City Home Care is a Section 39 organisation operating under a tender agreement with the HSE, yet our members continue to experience pay inequality compared to colleagues carrying out the same vital work in other Section 39 agencies.

She added: “Our members are seeking a pay increase in line with their counterparts across the Section 39 sector. They deserve to be recognised and valued for the skilled, compassionate care they deliver every day.

“SIPTU is calling on the employer and relevant State bodies to engage meaningfully and urgently to resolve this dispute and avoid disruption to essential home care services.”
