SIPTU members in Element Six in Shannon, County Clare, have voted overwhelmingly to take industrial action in response to the failure of management to fully implement a Labour Court recommendation in relation to changes of work practices and shift patterns at the industrial diamond manufacturing plant. SIPTU Organiser, Ray Mitchell, said: “In the ballot our members voted overwhelmingly to take industrial action if the company fails to implement the measures recommended by the Labour Court.” He added: “Over the coming days, members will decide upon the form of industrial action they will implement. However, SIPTU representatives remain available to meet with management to engage in serious negotiations to find a solution to the outstanding issues at the plant.”
