SIPTU members have returned to work this afternoon (Tuesday, 26th January) at the West Pharmaceutical Services site, Knockhouse, county Waterford, following an agreement with management which addresses their concerns over pay rates and other issues. SIPTU Sector Organiser, Martin Meere, said: “Talks were held today between SIPTU representatives and management from SISK, the main contractor on the site. At these talks an agreement was reached which was acceptable to the workers. This resulted in the resumption of work on the site following a two-day stoppage. “Among the issues dealt with at the talks concerned differing rates of pay and overtime allowances. Agreement was reached on these issues and on the retrospective payment of monies owed to the workers.” He added: “SIPTU representatives made it clear at the talks that the union will not accept a situation where contractors do not adhere to collective agreements which apply to the industry.”
