The decision comes following the result of a ballot held on Wednesday, 27thFebruary in a dispute concerning the withdrawal of a sick-pay scheme and of the company’s decision to unilaterally change the terms & conditions of employment of SIPTU members.
SIPTU Assistant Industrial Organiser, Joe Kelly, said: “The company hasfailed to engage with SIPTU members on a pay claim since November 2017. Our members have now decided that industrial action is the only option available to them.”
“The result of our ballot demonstratesthejustifiable frustrationswhich our members havewith Liebherr management. They have voted, by an overwhelming majority in favour of industrial action over thefailureof the companyto follow and respect standard industrial relations procedures.”
He added: “The industrial action will initially be one-hour rolling stoppages across all departments beginning on Monday, 25th March at 7.30a.m.and concluding at 11.30p.m.on the same day. Our members have always made themselves available for meaningful discussions with management and will continue to do so pending the reinstatement of their agreed terms andconditions.”
