SIPTU has placed Irish Rail on notice of the intention of its members to engage in industrial action if the company implements pay cuts to workers on 24th August. SIPTU Organiser, Paul Cullen, said: “SIPTU today (Friday, 18th July) informed the management of Irish Rail that our members will engage in industrial action if the company implements planned pay cuts next month. This is a result of the management of Irish Rail informing trade unions of its intention to implement pay cuts on 24th August. The Rail Committee of SIPTU will meet early next week to discuss the details of the company’s intentions.”SIPTU represents workers in all grades in Irish Rail.
