SIPTU representatives have suspended a national ballot for strike action by support staff in the health service in a dispute resulting from the refusal of the HSE and the Department of Health to set a conclusive date for the reintroduction of a job evaluation scheme SIPTU Health Division Organiser, Paul Bell, said: “The decision to pause the ballot comes after union representatives made progress in talks with HSE management, on Tuesday (2nd August), which are aimed at finding a workable solution to the current impasse and averting strike action. “As always, SIPTU representatives engaged constructively with HSE management and we believe there is the opportunity for further progress to be made. In the coming days SIPTU representatives will consult with members concerning the talks process.”
