SIPTU Nursing representatives will consult with members in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, County Louth, on proposals to end a dispute concerning shortages in staff which emerged from negotiations at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) today (Monday, 4th July). SIPTU Organiser, John McCamley, said: “SIPTU members of the nursing staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital will meet with their union representatives in the coming days to fully discuss these proposals. “An agreement to end this dispute must adequately deal with several issues. These include reaching agreement on an emergency plan to deal with staff shortages at the hospital. Members are also seeking agreement on the recruitment and retention of staff, governance structures on the wards as well as the dependency on agency staff and overtime to fill vacancies." He added: “Following the period of consultation our members may then decide if they will ballot on the acceptance or rejection of these proposals.”
