While the size of our 180,000+ membership gives us significant strength and influence, the real power of our Union comes from the active involvement of our members.

Your Voice Matters

Our Union structure is designed to ensure that every member has the opportunity to be heard on every issue. As a SIPTU member, you are entitled—and expected—to take part in key discussions and democratic ballots on issues at both local and national levels.

Democratic Responsibility

With these rights comes a responsibility to uphold our democratic process:

• Democracy in action: Matters facing the Union are decided by member votes.

• Respecting the outcome: Once a vote is taken, all members are expected to respect and support the majority decision.
