A comprehensive collective agreement has been concluded between SIPTU Manufacturing Division and PepsiCo for a new manufacturing facility in Little Island in Cork. The plant will produce food ingredients which will be exported to PepsiCo manufacturing facilities outside Ireland. The new ‘state of the art’ plant will go into production in September. Andy McCarthy, SIPTU Sector Organiser said: "It is a huge vote of confidence in the company's Irish workforce and a massive boost for job creation in Cork." Terry Bryan, SIPTU Assistant Organiser, who concluded the agreement with the company said: "The agreement with SIPTU will provide attractive terms and conditions on par with the other PepsiCo plants already in operation in Cork. While the numbers employed initially at the facility will be low it is hoped that they will increase in due course as the facility becomes established within PepsiCo." Recruitment for eight positions at the new plant has already begun.
